Flip the Lid
Turn the lid over and it becomes a cast iron skillet. Use it for eggs, mushrooms, steak or anything else that needs an open cooking surface
Cookware: Lennox Hastie Fire Oven Set
Time: As needed.
Frequency: Whenever you fry, sear or sauté.
Ingredients
Lid
Bale
Oil or butter
Food

Method
Flip the lid. It is now your skillet.
Use the bale to put it on the stove, then detach the handle and leave it away from the heat.
Give the iron a few minutes over low heat, then turn it up to suit dinner.
Add a little oil or butter, then your food. Give mushrooms room to brown and eggs a gentler heat. Let the food cook before trying to turn it.
Attach the bale again when you need to move the skillet. Use a glove if the handle has become hot.
After cooking, let the skillet cool a little. Wash, dry and lightly oil it, ready for the next meal.

Good to Know
There is no fixed knob underneath to get in the way. The lid sits flat as a skillet, with a hand-polished cooking surface ready for everyday frying.
Mushrooms need room. Crowded together, they release water and steam before they brown. Cook them in batches, giving the iron a little time to recover its heat between each one.
Eggs need a gentler heat and enough butter or oil to help them release, especially while the seasoning is young. The same skillet can sear a steak, but breakfast rarely needs that much heat.
You can cook with the pot and skillet at the same time, unless you need the lid on the pot.
