In collaboration with Chef Sachie Nomura, the Takumi Wok is designed to feel both ancient and new. Each wok begins as premium cast iron, patiently poured, cooled, and meticulously polished by hand to create a naturally non-stick surface. Balanced, precise, and ready for any heat source, including induction, this wok brings quiet mastery to your kitchen.

The Japanese word 'Takumi' translates to 'artisan' or 'master craftsman'. It embodies a philosophy of quiet mastery, patient craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

The carbonised bamboo lid is handmade in New Zealand by expert instrument makers. Each lid is unique, featuring a beautifully smooth surface and a subtle recessed handle that doubles as a serving board, trivet, or chopping board. Paired with delicate, handmade beech wood cooking chopsticks, the Takumi Wok Set embodies thoughtful design and timeless craftsmanship.

Each set is numbered, signed, and includes free access to the Ironclad Vault®, where you can securely store your warranty information, favourite family recipes, and kitchen memories.

Three Generation Guarantee®: Crafted to last for 100 years of normal daily use, your wok is guaranteed against warping, cracking, or losing structural integrity. If something goes wrong, we’ll replace it.

“Normal daily use” includes cooking indoors or outdoors. It doesn’t cover throwing it into the ocean, using it as a hammer, or melting it down. Things of that nature.

Cast Iron Care: The Ironclad cleaning ritual is quick and easy.

Wash: Wipe away residue, rinse, scrub as needed, and dry thoroughly.
Warm: Heat the wok on low to aid seasoning.
Oil: Rub a teaspoon of oil or conditioning balm over the surface.
Done: Let cool. Ready for your next meal.

Bamboo Lid and Chopstick Care: Keep these items thoroughly dry between uses and occasionally oil to prevent cracking. Hand wash only, keep them out of the dishwasher to ensure longevity.

  • Legacy Pan Shorter

Every pour is quality tested to ensure that our cast iron is pure enough to cook with.

In Australia and New Zealand, the cast iron industry remains unregulated, with no specific standards for "Food Grade Cast Iron." While we are working to change that, it’s currently up to each manufacturer to ensure their products are safe. At Ironclad, we choose to meet the highest global standards for cookware, including the requirements set by California Proposition 65 and the FDA.

  • Handcrafted with the same care and quality that defined cast iron cookware of generations past.

Inspired by vintage cast iron pieces from the 1800s, our signature finishing techniques create an elegantly smooth surface that feels almost like ceramic. By carefully grinding and polishing the cooking surface and base, we can create cast iron that is both naturally non-stick and gentle enough for even the most delicate cooktops, including induction.

  • With every Heirloom pan, you receive lifetime access the Ironclad Vault.

The Ironclad Vault is a secure digital platform that stores your Ironclad Guarantee alongside your family’s most treasured recipes.

As part of a thoughtful gift, the Ironclad Vault can also be preloaded with recipes and messages from friends and family. For weddings, anniversaries, or milestone moments.

  • Your purchase not only nourishes your family, it also helps feed a family in need.

A portion of the profit from each Ironclad Cast Iron Pan sold goes to KiwiHarvest, a charity dedicated to rescuing surplus food and distributing it to people facing food insecurity.

At Ironclad, we challenge throwaway culture through the concept of 'generational shopping', creating products that last and stay out of landfill.
