LIFETIME SUPPORT
We stand by our products for the long haul. For advice, help, or support, our team is here to help—always.
Think of your pan as an ingredient.
At Ironclad, every pour is quality tested to ensure that our cast iron is pure enough to cook with. That might sound obvious, but it isn’t.
Over the years, we’ve tested lots of discount cast iron to understand how some manufacturers can sell a pan for the price it costs to ship one. What we found were ingredients we’d never want near our food.
In Australia and New Zealand, the cast iron industry remains unregulated, with no specific standards for "Food Grade Cast Iron." While we are working to change that, it’s currently up to each manufacturer to ensure their products are safe.
At Ironclad, we choose to meet the highest global standards for cookware, including the requirements set by California Proposition 65 and the FDA.
They do make them like they used to.
Every Ironclad cast iron pan is handcrafted with the same care and quality that defined cast iron cookware of generations past. Our commitment to finishing each piece by hand ensures a smooth, natural surface that will just get better with time.
Inspired by vintage cast iron pieces from the 1800s, our signature finishing techniques create an elegantly smooth surface that feels almost like ceramic. By carefully grinding and polishing the cooking surface and base, we can create cast iron that is both naturally non-stick and gentle enough for even the most delicate cooktops, including induction.
But do not let the delicate finish fool you. These pans are built to last. We guarantee it.
Preserve your family's culinary history with the Recipe Vault.
The Recipe Vault is a secure digital platform that stores your Ironclad Guarantee alongside your family’s most treasured recipes and the stories behind them. With every Heirloom pan, you receive lifetime access to this platform—ensuring that the meals you create, the memories you share, and the traditions you pass down are preserved for generations.
As part of a thoughtful gift, the Recipe Vault can also be preloaded with recipes and messages from friends and family. For weddings, anniversaries, or milestone moments, imagine gifting an Heirloom pan filled with recipes contributed by loved ones—turning the pan into more than just a tool, but a living legacy. With every meal cooked, the recipient adds new chapters to the story, keeping the tradition alive for years to come.
How to make a hand-me-down.
At Ironclad, we’re reviving the lost art of generational shopping. When families invested in good quality products made to last, to be used, loved, and passed down. Back then, cookware wasn’t just bought and thrown away; it became part of your family story, carrying the marks of meals shared and memories made.
Every Ironclad cast iron pan is crafted with this spirit in mind. Hand-smoothed for a naturally non-stick finish and built to grow richer with time, it’s designed not just for today but for generations to come. This is cookware meant to outlive trends, gathering stories with every use, ready to be passed along when the time comes.
Every Ironclad Pan feeds a family in need.
Your purchase not only nourishes your family, it also helps feed a family in need. A portion of the profit from each Ironclad Cast Iron Pan sold goes to KiwiHarvest, a charity dedicated to rescuing surplus food and distributing it to people facing food insecurity.
At Ironclad, we challenge throwaway culture through the concept of 'generational shopping', creating products that last and stay out of landfill. KiwiHarvest tackles this problem by making sure good food is used, not wasted. Together, we are rethinking how we consume, working towards a more thoughtful and sustainable future.

FAQs
How do I wash Ironclad cast iron cookware?
How do I wash Ironclad cast iron cookware?
To wash your Ironclad cast iron pans, follow these simple steps to keep it in great shape:
- Rinse with Warm Water: Hand wash your Ironclad with warm water right after use. A gentle sponge or brush does the trick.
- Skip the Soap: Soap isn’t needed and can strip the seasoning. Just use water and a quick scrub to keep it clean.
- Dry Immediately: After washing, dry it completely with a towel. This prevents rust.
- Oil Lightly (If Needed): If it looks dry, rub a thin layer of oil on the surface while it’s warm. Wipe off any extra oil with a paper towel.
- Store Smart: Make sure it’s fully dry before storing. If stacking with other items, place a paper towel between them.
That’s it! A quick rinse, dry, and light oiling keep your Ironclad ready for its next use.
What are the different cooking configurations of the Old Dutch?
What are the different cooking configurations of the Old Dutch?
Skillet – Use the lid as a separate flat pan for frying, sautéing, or searing.
Camp Oven – Ideal for slow-cooked meals over an open flame or campfire.
Bread Oven – Perfect for baking artisanal bread with a crisp crust and moist interior.
Smoker – Convert it into a smoker for infusing meats and vegetables with rich, smoky flavours.
Double Cooker – Use the pot and lid simultaneously to cook two dishes at once.
Casserole Dish – Great for hearty stews, casseroles, and slow-cooked meals.
Fryer – Deep enough to double as a fryer for doughnuts, chips, and more.
This versatility makes the Old Dutch adaptable to any cooking environment—from stovetop to campfire, offering unmatched flexibility and durability for generations of meals.
Can I use the Old Dutch and Lil' Legacy on my induction cooktop?
Can I use the Old Dutch and Lil' Legacy on my induction cooktop?
Absolutely! Our cast iron loves any heat source: induction, gas, electric, BBQ, even a campfire. Just remember, low and slow is the way to go, especially at first. Too much heat too fast can warp the iron. We recommend matching the induction hob size to fit the pan and putting it on low for a minute or two before cranking.
We also grind and polish the base of the Lil and the Old Dutch by hand to make them smooth and perfect for induction cooktops.
What makes Ironclad cookware superior?
What makes Ironclad cookware superior?
Ironclad cookware is handcrafted for exceptional durability and heat retention.
The cooking surface and base are polished by hand to be naturally nonstick and smooth on induction.
We quality check each pour to make sure that only the finest cast iron comes in contact with your food.
Each Ironclad comes with a 100-year product replacement warranty cast into the iron. This Three Generation Guarantee® is our promise that your purchase will stand the test of time.
Each Ironclad also comes with free access to the Recipe Vault, a secure digital platform for your precious family recipes.
Why Invest in Ironclad Over Non-Stick?
Why Invest in Ironclad Over Non-Stick?
A middle of the road non-stick pan costs around $70 and needs replacing every year. In just three years, that’s already $210—and a huge amount of waste. An Ironclad pan starts at $199 and is guaranteed to last 100 years.
Unlike non-stick coatings that wear out and release toxic chemicals like PFAS into your food and the environment, Ironclad cookware only gets better with time, developing a natural non-stick surface without harmful additives. It’s versatile too—working seamlessly on all heat sources, from induction to campfires.
Ironclad isn’t just cookware; it’s an investment in quality, sustainability, and lasting value. Buy once. Use forever. Save in the long run.
Why Invest in Ironclad Over Discount Cast Iron?
Why Invest in Ironclad Over Discount Cast Iron?
Discount cast iron may seem like a bargain, but the challenge is you never really know what’s in your pan. Over the years, we’ve tested many discount cast iron products to understand how a manufacturer can sell a pan for the same price it costs to ship one. What we found were ingredients we wouldn’t want near our food—some pans even contained cast iron intended for infrastructure, like drains and pipes.
Ironclad cookware is made from premium, food-safe cast iron and tested to meet the highest global standards, including FDA and California Proposition 65 requirements.
Just like you invest in quality ingredients for better flavour, nutrition, and safety, investing in premium cookware makes all the difference.
Food grade cast iron? What's the deal?
Food grade cast iron? What's the deal?
Think of your cookware like an ingredient—you want the best quality for your food. There are four types of cast iron, but only grey cast iron is ideal for cookware. At Ironclad, we test every pour for purity and we use only food-safe grey cast iron. Unlike some brands that opt for cheaper, lower-grade iron. Always check with your cookware maker about their materials—they owe you that transparency.
What causes cast iron to warp?
What causes cast iron to warp?
Usually, it's from using a burner that's too small for the base of the pan, or cranking up the heat too quickly. This creates a hotspot that makes the iron expand unevenly. Minor warping often fixes itself as the pan cools. If it's bad, though, it might not go back to perfectly flat. In that case, you're covered. Just contact us at hello@ironcladpan.com
What if I'm not happy with my Ironclad?
What if I'm not happy with my Ironclad?
We’re so confident you’ll love your Ironclad that every purchase comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you’re not completely satisfied, return it—no questions asked.
After that, our Three Generation Guarantee® kicks in. If your pan warps, cracks, or loses structural integrity over 100 years of regular use, we’ll replace it.
"Regular use" means cooking with it, taking it camping, or using it on an oven, BBQ, or campfire. It doesn’t cover things like tossing it into the ocean on a dare, using it as a hammer, eating it, or melting it down for a drink—things like that.

What happens if my cast iron gets rust spots?
What happens if my cast iron gets rust spots?
A bit of surface rust is normal, especially if it's been drip-drying. It's easily fixed. A good scrub with soap and steel wool, a wipe with an oiled cloth, or even a run through your oven's cleaning cycle will do the trick. If in doubt, re-season it like new—see our tips page for an easy walk through. If that's too hard, we're always here to help. Just get in touch at hello@ironcladpan.com
